SkyDeck™ in its newest form - a Truss-Mounted Tension Wire Grid System

SkyTruss Information

IAstage, in conjunction with TOMCAT USA, introduces a new product - a Truss-Mounted Wire Tension Grid system. This innovative system is a modified near standard lighting grid consisting of 'Sky' truss and SkyDeck™ panels. A standard lighting grid is transformed into a working platform that provides safe and easy access to lighting and sound equipment. The SkyDeck Truss system is a perfect surface for electricians, technicians and riggers to work from. Safety harnesses and climbing from truss to truss may become a thing of the past.

Truss-Mounted Tension Wire Grid

Truss-Mounted Tension Wire Grid

Unlike a traditional Tension Wire Grid System that historically gets permanently installed in one venue, this new application provides flexible and transportable options. Imagine having the ability to set up a working grid in multiple venues or have the ability to reconfigured within a single venue. We all know trusses are easily broken down for ease of handling and set up. SkyDeck panels are modular which makes them ideal for touring and or reconfiguring within a single venue. Setting up and even focusing a show will be more efficient and trouble free since the technicians can walk from lighting instrument to instrument.

In the case of the Van Buren School , Truss-Mounted Tension Wire Grid, a standard motorized lighting truss would have only provided limited access to hang and focus theatrical lighting. By combining SkyDeck™ WTG panels with TOMCA's truss, staff and students have the ability to pre-hang their lighting plots on the ground. Once the lights have been roughly placed, the grid can be moved up into the air and work can continue without ladders or lifts, allowing other work to be done on the floor below.
