James C. Savage Performing Arts Center
St. Croix , US Virgin Islands – STAR (Students of Theatre, Arts and Repertoire) Theatre Camp offers great opportunities for young people between the ages of 8 and 16. This summer, the participants from STAR put on a performance of “Seussical” at the James C. Savage Performing Arts Center at Good Hope School. The musical moves from song to song with little dialogue, giving the participants the ability to learn different styles of dance from swing, hip hop to salsa. Many of the young actors enjoy coming back to the program year after year.
James C. Savage Performing Arts Center is one of the fun theatres IAstage enjoys helping out. Recently, IAstage donated a Fly Rig to add to the theatre.
In addition, Jan Hart, director of STAR productions, was one of the first people to utilize DropZone found on IAstage’s website. DropZone is a place where non-for-profit theatres and USITT members can find free items for the cost of shipping. Hart found two borders which she used in this summer’s performance.
InterAmerica stage helps support many performing art programs and venues. If there is something we have left over from a project, we are happy to gift these to needy programs.
