InterAmerica Stage Inc. Completes Sky Deck installation at the Garden Theater

Winter Garden, FL -

InterAmerica Stage has completed installation of yet another SkyDeck tension wire grid system, this one for the Garden Theater in Central Florida. This installation is unique in that it uses a custom I-Beam system to support the grid from the theater walls, alleviating the need to rig to the roof support steel.

IASI president Mark T. Black describes: “A creative solution was needed to preserve the historical integrity of the building. Even the light weight / low loading characteristics of the SkyDeck, when hung from overhead it would have greatly increased project costs to reinforce the stage roof structure. Wheeler Projects Inc. worked with IAstage to design the beam support and lighting system. Fitting in all the equipment around the ductwork proved to be a challenge.”

“This decision to support the grid on beams rather than from roof hangers had the positive side effect of allowing us to maximize the surface area of the SkyDeck panels. Considering all the obstructions there were, the installation was smooth and effortless. End result... a highly desirable product for the end user” says W. Ambrose Coddington IASI SkyDeck installation specialist. “In renovated theaters the working space is often difficult to access, the SkyDeck helps tremendously by giving the theater technicians easy access to their lighting gear and rigging points. Without our system they would be working exclusively from lifts and ladders.”

IASI also assisted The Garden by installing their projection screen, draperies and lighting. The Garden Theatre opened on January 26th, 2008.
