December 6, 2013, Sanford, FL – InterAmerica Stage, Inc.,
Spotlight on…Eric McAfee!Eric has recently come on board to head up a very important part of IAStage’s organizational culture: safety. With 25 years of industry experience under his belt, Eric brings a formidable skill set to InterAmerica’s table. Check out this snippet of Eric’s resume: Technical Director at the SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center; Project Manager at BMI Supply; Project Manager and Domestic Sales Manager at J.R. Clancy; and most recently, Theatre Design Specialist at Westlake Reed Leskosky. Eric is also an ETCP certified rigger and Subject Matter Expert, which means that he helps update the ETCP exam and practice test materials! Can you see why we’re so excited that he’s here in Sanford with us?
A native of Illinois, Eric holds a BFA in Theatre with an emphasis in Stage Management and Technical Direction from the University of Illinois. Trained as a production stage manager, Eric developed strong organizational and leadership skills, while discovering the joy of working in a performing arts environment.
Eric has jumped right into the synergistic mental mosh pit that is InterAmerica. “The company doesn’t pigeon-hole you,” he says. “You can use your collaborative strengths in areas that you typically wouldn’t be working with.” When asked what drew him to IAStage, he said, “The scope and breadth of what this company can do, from structural steel to the general contracting level… Safety is always the baseline for design and installation and InterAmerica’s reputation as a provider of installation services is top notch.”
With siblings in Ft. Lauderdale and after 15 years in the chilly Cleveland/Syracuse area, Eric is enjoying Florida. Welcome to the Sunshine State, Eric!
