R. Duncan MacKenzie joins our team in sunny Florida!
InterAmerica Stage is excited to announce the arrival of R. Duncan MacKenzie to Florida and to IASI’s office in Sanford! Duncan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to InterAmerica’s team. He has been in the theater industry since graduating from Whitman College in 1970; holding positions as Assistant Technical Director at Santa Fe Opera to Technical Director for the Oregon Shakespearean Festival for 6 years, also serving as the Construction Manager during major expansion projects there.
Duncan moved into the consulting field, first as an associate, to later a principal of George Thomas Howard Associates, PC, specializing in stage machinery, control, audio and security/surveillance systems. It was during this time Duncan met Mark Black as they worked together on a large hoist project in Nevada. Duncan left GTHA to join Hoffend and Sons where he and Mark combined experiences and craftsmanship of the industry to design rigging control systems and equipment for large scale domestic and international projects.
As Mark went on to form InterAmerica Stage, Inc., Duncan formed his own systems design consulting firm, Proskenion Design – specializing in the design and facility integration of custom stage machinery, hydraulic and electronic control systems for legitimate theatres, opera houses, and themed attractions throughout the world – thus continuing to work closely with InterAmerica Stage on many projects.
Ready to settle in the warm climate of Florida, Duncan and his wife, Gloria, made the move from Oregon to the south and has became a full-time member to IASI’s Design Team. Welcome Duncan MacKenzie – so glad to have you here!
